Our data imply that a CLC consisting of felsic granulite is weaker rheologically compared to the quartz-dominated upper crust and the olivine-dominated uppermost mantle, which supports the 'jelly sandwich' model for the strength of continental lithosphere.
We report a UHTM event in the Lhasa Block, identified from felsic granulite xenoliths in Sangsang near the Tangra Yum Co Rift (TYR) of southern Tibet. These xenoliths exhibit a mineral assemblage of garnet + rutile + quartz + K-feldspar + plagioclase ± kyanite.

Petrological studies of granulite-migmatite-granite terranes demonstrate that partial melting and melt extraction are the two predominant mechanisms for chemical differentiation of the continental crust (e.g., Brown, 2013; Sawyer, 1998).

Four garnet-free felsic granulite xenoliths (XY11-28, XY11-30, XY11-31 and XY11-33) were collected from the No. 7 volcanic diatreme. Sample XY11-28 has a fine-grained granoblastic microstructure and consists of plagioclase ... The chips were then crushed in a carborundum jaw crusher (to 60 mesh).

Garnet-bearing mafic and felsic granulites associated with magnetite deposits that have undergone high-pressure (HP) and ultrahigh-temperature (UHT) metamorphism occur in the Yangjiazhai area of the Jiaobei terrane within the Jiao-Liao-Ji Belt, North China Craton.

High-pressure granulites are characterised by the key associations garnet-clinopyroxene-plagioclase-quartz (in basic rocks) and kyanite-K-feldspar (metapelites and felsic rocks) and are typically orthopyroxene-free in both basic and felsic bulk compositions.
Several studies have shown that the felsic granulite relaminant is exhumed either in the vicinity of a magmatic arc (e.g. Franěk et al., 2011; Nahodilová et al., 2014) or far away at the ...
A detailed petrological and geochemical study of the Blanský les Granulite Massif (BLGM; Moldanubian Zone of the Bohemian Massif) provides evidence for processes and mineral assemblages previously unrecognized, or not fully appreciated, in the South Bohemian HP–HT Granulite Complex.

The rocks with >30% mafic minerals (dominantly pyroxene) may be called mafic granulites, those with <30% mafic minerals (dominantly pyroxene) may be called felsic granulites. Granulite may exhibit a crude gneissic structure due to the parallelism of flat lenses of quartz and/or feldspar. The texture is typically granoblastic.

The Himalayan-Tibetan orogen experienced extensive thermal disturbance during the Indian-Asian collision, yet evidence for ultrahigh-temperature metamorphism (UHTM, >900 °C) remains scant. We report a UHTM event in the Lhasa Block, identified from felsic granulite xenoliths in Sangsang near the Tangra Yum Co Rift (TYR) of southern Tibet.
